Wow...has anyone seen this yet? using it already?

Inspired following the FLOK conference, I decided to try to keep the momentum going forward intentionally.  If you are trying also to find a way to stay inspired and to remember all the "little things" that have worked....take a look at the Parenting Compass.

It has several features that help us to focus on our family and our children specifically.  It makes it quicker to get your thoughts, plans and vision all in one place.  However, we still have to bring clarity to our thoughts!  I'm just getting started, and so far I think this will be one of the best tools my husband and I have ever used.

Why not take a look?  Check it out and if you have any ideas to share, please do.  :)

I couldn't agree with you more -- I was one of the users of the early versions of the site, and am still "building" my compass pages for my sons. One of they ways I've used it is to actually print out some of the views (both the overall summary and then individual tabs) to share with teachers, sitters, etc., as an "introduction" to my chldren, in particular to understand their strengths and tips for working effectively with them. I'd love to hear ideas from other parents!

I too love the tool and continue to return to it. I have actually created frames for each of my children identifying their strengths. We placed them on a shelf in the kitchen. They have provided lively conversation over meals. Guests have also commented on them. I can really see how the compass will help to guide both my husband and I through different stages with our children.

What a great idea to create frames with your child's strengths! Strengths can help children get through challenging times. For instance, if one of your child's strengths is that she  expresses herself through art, you can remind her of that strength and encourage her to color or draw when she feels sad. You could say, "Show me what your feelings look like."

The Parenting Compass has a place for an action plan. If you want to add intention and follow-through to an idea such as using strengths to express feelings, here is another great way to use the compass.

Thank you for the positive feedback and great idea!

    Re: Downloading a photo.

Hi, there. I use the parent compass tool alot. I did not have a problem downloading my children's photos. However, I noted there is a feedback link in the upper right hand corner of the page. You might want to click on it and someone can help you. Enjoy the holidays!
