Emotional Intelligence

Introduction

Emotional intelligence (EQ), a term popularized by Daniel Goleman, refers to knowing your own emotions and handling feelings appropriately. It also refers to offering empathy – that is, the ability to recognize emotions in others.

Emotionally intelligent people handle relationships with skill. It’s believed that children who can understand and manage relationships develop high self-esteem and the capacity for leadership.

Many parenting experts and other professionals agree. In addition, more and more studies show children with higher EQ have better physical health, perform better in school, and have more success with relationships.
